Winston & Madison

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A dog has one aim in life . . . to bestow his heart.-J.R. Ackerley.  No truer words could describe my dear Winston.  My first Frenchie, he had many firsts-the first true love of my life, the first in the Frenchie Family, the first to unlock my heart, the first to show me pure unconditional love.  It is because of  Winston that I am blessed with a family of 7 Frenchies.  He showed me how to become teachable, to always leave myself open to learn, sometimes from the most unexpected circumstances.  Winston opened my eyes and heart to the notion that no amount of planning gives me the actually ability to control my life despite my insane delusion that I am somehow in the driver’s seat.  I am just beginning to understand that while there is a plan for my life, I am not the one directing the acts and scenes in this drama.

Winston taught me about acceptance when he welcomed his sister Madison into his very privileged life as a solo spoiled first dog.  Our dear sweet Madison was a failure to thrive pup and had many health challenges from the beginning.  But Winston saw none of that, Madison was simply his little sister with a big, pure heart.  It may have taken her longer to eat, but Winston was always content to wait until Madison finished her food before he began to eat his.  Madison was a very slow walker, but Winston simply incorporated the leisurely stroll into his routine by using the extra time to greet and socialize with people and other dogs.

Winston and Madison crossed the rainbow bridge earlier than I ever anticipated.  I would have said much too soon, but Winston and Madison taught me that everything happens when it is supposed to happen.  Accepting that has been a challenging lesson for me but I know it is because of these precious two frenchies that I have the most amazing, blessed life with 7 french bulldogs.  Winston and Madison helped me to discover that 7 is heaven!

Cleo: The Frilly Frenchie

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Cleo is not the youngest but she is by far the most tiny and dainty of all of her siblings which fits her personality perfectly.  Cleo is from France and is very flirty and girly, but can also be very passionately fiesty.  When she means business or is one of her “moods” her brothers know to steer clear.  It is like there is an invisible force field around Cleo and none of her siblings dare try to cross that Cleo field when it is up!!  She has the mysterious air about her, the more she tries to ignore her siblings the more they want to play with her, it is as though she is telling them, “Not now Mon Cheri, when I am ready to play, I will let you know.”   Cleo is always trying to get Chelsea to be more girly, Cleo tries to teach her how to dress/shop for cute clothes and collars with rhinestones, get pawdicures and spa treatments. She also tries to show her how to bat eyelashes and give a sad sweet face to get whatever you want, which Cleo does quite well:)!

Cocoa: The Fetchmeister

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Cocoa can be crafty, and she is extremely intelligent. She loves to play fetch (which is rare for a Frenchie) and leaps through the air as agile as a gazelle, also rare for the muscular stocky Frenchie. Cocoa loves her Momma and can become quite anxious when she thinks she will be separated from her, sometimes prompting an involuntary game of hide and seek in an attempt to delay Momma’s departure. Cocoa is from NYC and is athletic, agile, snobby, teacher’s pet, jock, cheerleader, blessed with good looks, always showing off, the popular girl.  She is a dog star who does dog modeling/dog commercials so she believes that she is a superstar!  In her spare time, Cocoa loves plastic water bottles and loves to recycle in her own special way.  She will happily grab water bottles out of the hands of the unsuspecting Central Park walkers in a blink of an eye.  With a little wink, she says, “Just recycling, baby!”  and runs off her merry way.

Chelsea: The Kissing Hiker & Pet Therapy Pup

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Chelsea comes across as the mama bear.  She is cool, calm and collected.  That is probably what makes her such a good pet therapy dog–she wants to mother everybody, animal and humans alike.  Chelsea often opts to watch her siblings antics from afar.  She has the kind of “I’ve been there done that” attitude and although she loves her power walks, she is also quite content to get cozy and have a good nap, especially in front of the fireplace or under a warm heating blanket.  While she loves to mother others, she loves to be mothered as well. She will happily cover you with kisses if you pick her up and cradle her in your arms, just like a baby.  So sweet!

Bucky: Long Tongue Dancer

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What can you say about Bucky except the boy’s got swagger. He’s gutsy, bold and definitely holds his own for being the latest addition to the pack. He won’t hesitate to take treats, food & toys right out of the mouths of his siblings without any fear or remorse.  The youngest of the boys at a 1 1/2 years old, he is assimilating quite well and has quickly become an engaging playmate for his brothers. In fact, it looks like he may become the head dog of the entire crew. His hazel eyes sparkle with mischief and innocence while his quizzical expressions never hesitate to make one stop and chuckle. And while his lolling tongue brings about some sweet Bucky kisses, nobody is a fan of his fondness for rabbit poop! He also has been the only one of the Frenchies that actually caught a chipmunk in the backyard!! RIP Chipmunk–we actually had a funeral for the chipmunk–so sad. Bucky was depressed for days–he thought it was a toy that we took away:(  He is also the only of the Frenchies that can actually walk and dance on his hind legs. Bucky is from New Jersey and has the swagger to prove it!

Blue, we love you!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The only thing more unique than his coloring (he is what is called a Blue Frenchie–blueish gray fur and eyes) is Blue’s personality. A gentle giant, he is twice the size of his siblings. Blue can sometimes be adorably clueless barreling his way through whatever is between him and his favorite toys. His favorite toy is a hard blue balls (can’t make it up) that he is fixated on. He’s dopey and sweet but when pushed too far he won’t hesitate to put his brothers in their place. BLUE is from England, loves to hang out at Strawberry Fields in Central Park, loves music. he is the back up enforcer for Bailey when the pack or someone else needs protecting.

Bailey: Bails & Bails & Bails of Fun

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Bailey absolutely loves to play!  He is obsessed with water and loves tug of war. Bailey genuinely is man’s best friend.  Well behaved, protective, and loyal this strong boy will melt your heart with his soulful gaze. Whatever you may be doing he is right there by your side. He does not like even the hint of a possible fight.  If he senses any kind of tension from animals or humans he jumps right in the middle to calm everyone down. Not wanting to miss a thing, Bailey fights his tiredness and is often found dozing while sitting up. One look at that beaming mug and you are in love.  BAILEY, is the guard dog, protector from Philly, PA.  Tough, very athletic and strong but sweet, breaks up all fights and very protective of his human parents.

Bello: Happy Scrappy Doo!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

He’s vivacious and upbeat, and it is an absolute delight to see his smiling face come bounding down the backyard hill. He is sometimes relentless in his efforts to get his siblings to play and he desperately vies for his big sisterCleo’s attention. He’s as cuddly as a teddy bear with his big floppy paws, stocky legs and playful grin. Bello truly is one happy pup. Scrappy is the perfect nickname as Angel, his Dog Dad, affectionately calls him. We don’t know where Bello is really from because he is the travel dog-the Rolling Stone of Dogs-he has traveled everywhere, met everyone and hasn’t yet seen or met a dog, animal, person or place he doesn’t like.
